MUSIC

I am a classically trained musician, with experience in playing and teaching piano, cello, and classical music theory. My early 20s were spent playing with various award-winning bands in and around Malaysia, mostly with indie band Furniture, as part of poetry duo Dizzy & The, and with folk troubador Azmyl Yunor. I also briefly performed with critically acclaimed gamelan ensemble, Rhythm In Bronze.

In 2013, I was the music director for Five Arts Centre's anti-musical on the life and music of Azmyl Yunor, "Something I Wrote", directed by Mark Teh. My work on this production won Best Music and Sound Design at the 11th Boh Cameronian Arts Awards.

I've also contributed scores to PPV TV shows and indie games, the latest one being Monsoon Merchants by Centaur Games, out soon!

I also interact with music through dance.

As a child I learned and performed classical Malay dances. Since 2013 however, I have been learning, performing, and teaching various dances of the African American tradition, namely lindy hop, various blues styles, and vernacular solo jazz.

In 2017 I placed second with my partner Ho Hwan in the Newcomer JnJ category at Korea Blues Camp.

I am currently on a break, though I look forward to returning to movement soon.
